“Why would I not go straight to AWS?” was my initial response when I first heard of the VMware Cloud (VMC) on AWS offering. “And even if I am picking VMC on AWS, will I not simply use it as a stepping stone straight into AWS, cutting out VMware as the middle man?” Two years later, I need to do what some say industry analysts do too easily, change my mind. While this does not mean that I am endorsing VMC over other products, it definitely does mean that I am impressed by VMware’s execution of the VMC strategy across the entire organization. So why would I not go straight to AWS? You will find the answer in the following four interviews (EMA Cloud Rants) with Ivan Oprencak (VMware).

The chart shows the individual components of the VMC on AWS architecture and how they all enable a unified operating model.

Instead of writing a conclusion, I am curious to hear opinions on the VMC on AWS strategy. Let me know what you think either here, on Twitter (@torstenvolk) or directly via email.
